NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Organizers of the New Haven Open have announced 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been granted a wildcard into the tournament.

Kvitova, of the Czech Republic, is the sixth-ranked player in the world.

Organizers said Thursday that she will be the fifth top-10 player in the New Haven Open field. The tournament will be held
Aug. 17-25 at Yale University.

Joining her at the tournament will be World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska, No. 8 Caroline Wozniacki, No. 9 Sara Errani and No. 10 Marion Bartoli.
