ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ A social studies teacher at a Connecticut high school has surrendered to police on four counts of sexual assault involving a female student.

Police say 29-year-old Tyler Wells, who teaches at Enrico Fermi High School, was in an “improper relationship” with the student. Wells was arraigned in Superior Court in Enfield on Wednesday.

Wells has been on administrative leave since June 14.
