Branford police say they’d like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed a serious one-car crash shortly before noon on Sunday.

Police say 46-year-old Kevin Cudgma was westbound on Route 1  when he went off the roadway and hit a utility pole.   They say preliminary reports indicate that Cudgma’s vehicle may have been experiencing mechanical problems at the time of the crash.

The accident affected traffic on Route 1,  West Main Street, near  Orchard Hill Road for more than three hours.
