Powerball Winner Had Ticket On Car Dashboard

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (AP) _ Noel Peel says he went into a local deli to get a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and came out with a $60 million Powerball ticket.

The Seymour man and his wife claimed the June 23 prize on Tuesday. They had the only winning ticket for the national jackpot.

The 47-year-old self-employed contractor says he doesn’t normally play the lottery, but bought four tickets at John’s Deli while waiting for his sandwich.

He says he and his wife, a 45-year-old teacher, plan to put a new roof on their house, buy a car and give some money to charity.

They took home a one-time lump sum payment of about $27 million after taxes.
