Pregnant Woman Injured By Car In Police Chase

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ A pregnant woman was hospitalized when her sport utility vehicle overturned after being struck in Bridgeport by a driver who was being chased by police.

The Connecticut Post reports the woman was attempting to turn into her driveway when a suspect in a Fairfield burglary crashed his car into her SUV Monday evening.

Police arrested 51-year-old Christopher Bond at the scene. He faces numerous charges, including burglary and engaging police in a pursuit.

Fairfield police say they began the pursuit after Bond was spotted burglarizing an office building. They say the speeds in the chase never exceeded 40 mph and the woman, who is nine-months pregnant, was not seriously injured.

Her name has not been released.
