Man Charged In Connecticut Wreck That Killed Two From Rhode Island

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut state police have charged a man with manslaughter and DUI in connection with a wreck on Interstate 95 in Westport that killed two Rhode Island residents on New Year’s Day.

Troopers arrested 32-year-old Jamain Jerry Allen at his Bridgeport home Sunday night. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Norwalk Superior Court on charges including second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

State police say Allen was driving with three passengers when he lost control and his car rolled over on I-95 north near exit 19. The crash killed 46-year-old Terrance Bernard and 25-year-old Savannah Wakely, both of Woonsocket, R.I. A third passenger was seriously injured.

Allen was held on $500,000 bail. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
