The audience for the annual “Riverfest” fireworks on the Connecticut River between Hartford and East Hartford Saturday may have noticed some problems.
Atlas PyroVision Productions, which has supplied the Riverfest fireworks for twenty years says a series of computer malfunctions meant that the explosives failed to go off properly in time to the music in the early moments of the display .
When the crew realized the problem, they took the systems off-line, so they could fire each barge manually. . but that meant that each of the barges in use fired consecutively. . . and the pyrotechnics were not synchronized to to the music.
A statement from Riverfront Recapture says the show was not what Hartford area audiences have come to expect.
Riverfront Recapture head Joe Marfuggi told WTIC’s Ray Dunaway on Friday that the Hartford fireworks were going to be a rehearsal for Atlas, for their entry in an international competition later this month.
