Motorcycle Operator Killed In Accident Which Closed I-95 Southbound

Interstate 95 in East Lyme was closed for much of the night after a fatal motorcycle accident. The driver of the car involved was arrested for drunk driving.

State police say a Ford Escort on the exit 72 ramp to Interstate 95  southbound went off the ramp, into the wire guard railing,  then back onto the ramp and over the grass  into the southbound travel lanes of the highway,  where it collided with a southbound Honda motorcycle,  which was then hit by a second motorcycle travelling behind it.

The operator of the first motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.  He’s identified as 35-year-old Robert Burr of Clinton.  His passenger and the the operator and a passenger on the second motorcycle all were taken to hospitals.

The driver of the car, 23-year-old -Christiana Morton-Lane of Old Lyme was not injured.  Police charged her with DUI.
