Hartford officials today announced three finalists to become the city’s next police chief.

Mayor Pedro Segarra says the three finalists will answer written questions at a public gathering at the Main Branch of the Hartford Public Library on Monday.

They are Reading, Pennsylvania police chief William Heim, Indianapolis Public Safety Director Frank Straub, and Former Newark Police Chief Irving Bradley, Junior.

Hartford has been without a permanent chief since Daryl Roberts stepped down, effective at the end of last year.

Neither of the two men who have served as acting chief since then is on the list of finalists.

The mayor appoints the police chief, and the candidate then goes before the city council for confirmation.
