Three Rescued In New Haven Harbor

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Three boaters have been rescued in New Haven Harbor.

The New Haven Register reports  that the city Fire Department says it responded to reports Tuesday evening of an overturned small boat and people in the water off Fort Hale Park. Fire Capt. William Gambardella said two of the unidentified boaters were a father and his 12-year-old daughter who were about 100 yards from shore.

A third man was further out.

Firefighters wearing cold water suits swam to the trio and brought them back to shore. They were taken to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

The Coast Guard retrieved the small boat.

All three wore floatation vests.
