HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Former U.S. Attorney Stanley Twardy says he will release his investigative report into allegations of wrongdoing involving political fundraising and Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan’s 5th Congressional District campaign.
Twardy told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he plans to make the report “public” at a news conference scheduled for Thursday at his law firm’s offices in downtown Hartford.
In May, federal authorities arrested Donovan’s former campaign finance director, Robert Braddock, charging him with conspiring to hide the source of $20,000 in campaign contributions. The money was connected to legislation that would have raised state taxes on “roll-your-own” smoke shop owners.
Braddock’s attorney has said that his client is innocent. His probable cause hearing has been delayed until later this month.
Donovan’s campaign hired Twardy to investigate the allegations following Braddock’s arrest.
