Wrong Way Driver Shuts Down Route 15

Serious injuries are reported from a wreck caused by a wrong way driver involving  three passenger vehicles and a tractor trailer this morning on the Wilbur Cross parkway in Meriden, Connecticut.

The wrong-way driver was heading south in the northbound lanes on route 15 between exits 66 and 67.

Lieutenant Paul Vance says the accident occurred around 10 a.m.Vance says the person driving in the wrong-way car was air lifted from the scene and two others were taken away in ambulances.

West Hartford police confirm one of their officers was among those injured in the crash.

Vance says he expects route 15 to be shut down for a few hours into the early afternoon.
