NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ New Haven police say a man wanted for questioning in a felony investigation burst into a home full of children before surrendering after a brief standoff. The children were not harmed.
Police say they tried to pull over 21-year-old David Lilly on Tuesday afternoon but he fled and ran into a home on Orchard Street.
Police say an officer searching the building for Lilly found five crying children between the ages of 5 and 10, and the officer brought the children into a rear bedroom.
Lilly allegedly grabbed a 10-year-old girl and entered another apartment before a woman there demanded that he leave without any children.
Police surrounding the home then determined he did not have any hostages. Officers negotiated with Lilly for a few minutes before arresting him without incident.
