Man Killed In New Haven Had Been Shot Before

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Police say a New Haven man found dead on a street in the city’s Newhallville neighborhood had been shot for the second time in three months.

The body of 32-year-old Andre Williamson was found just after 2:30 a.m. Monday outside a house on Bassett Street, after police responded to gunfire detected by its “Shotspotter” system, which uses cameras and recorders to pinpoint gunshots fired on city streets.

Police say Williamson had been shot at least twice. He was pronounced dead at the Hospital of Saint Raphael.

Police say Williamson also was shot in the abdomen on April 9 on Shelton Avenue, near Gibbs Street.

They say Williamson gave police very little information after that shooting, and no arrests were made.
