New Britain police say they’ve made an arrest on one fatal motor vehicle accident, and are investigating a second accident which also resulted in a death.
Police say 31-year-old Demetrious Lausell of Bristol was killed shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday when his motorcycle was hit by a driver who fled the scene. Police say the minivan driver continued on and was involved in a second accident before fleeing on foot. Police picked up 42-year-old Rafelito Ares of New Britain. He faces a variety of charges, including operatIng with a suspended license, failure to carry an insurance card, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, making an improper turn, evading responsibility and manslaughter with a motor vehicle.
Then, just over eight hours later, New Britain police were called to a second fatal accident. They found a pedestrian in the street on Farmington Avenue. The 43-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, died at the hospital as a result of her injuries. Witnesses told police they saw a red pickup truck leave the scene. Police are asking anyone with information to call the New Britain Police Traffic Division,
