Man Charged With Killing Outside Derby Cafe

DERBY, Conn. (AP) _ A convicted drug dealer has been charged with shooting a man to death in the parking lot of a cafe in Derby.

Twenty-four-year-old Cordaryl Silva of Ansonia is set to be arraigned on a murder charge Tuesday in Derby Superior Court.

Silva is already jailed on a probation violation charge connected to convictions in 2008 on drug and weapon charges.

Derby police say Silva shot 22-year-old Javon Zimmerman of Ansonia multiple times in the early morning hours of May 12 at R.J.’s Cafe. Police say the two men had an ongoing dispute, but wouldn’t say what it was about.

Silva’s public defender didn’t immediately return a message Tuesday morning.

Police said earlier this month that Zimmerman was a target in a drug investigation.
