Head of Sports Medicine At UConn To Run Baseball’s Drug Program

The Director of Sports Medicine at UConn, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson,  has been named the administrator of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association.  Dr. Anderson,  who is also Acting Director of Medical Services in UConn Student Health Services,  will continue his duties at UConn.

Dr. Anderson will handle testing requirements,   monitor collection procedures and testing protocols, and will audit test results,  and will prepare and release an annual report on the program.  He’ll also administer the “therapeutic use exemption,”  under which athletes may take a prohibited medication for medical purposes.
