NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Education says it has resolved a complaint that Yale University failed to properly respond to sexual harassment on campus.
Students filed the complaint, citing incidents in which fraternities held up a sign “We love Yale sluts” outside a women’s center and chanted “no means yes” on campus last fall. They also say incoming female freshmen were ranked on attractiveness.
The complaints also include allegations that Yale failed to adequately respond to reports of sexual assault or attempted assault and stalking.
The Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights says Yale has made policy changes, including the establishment of a new grievance policy to handle sexual harassment complaints, and will increase training for staff and students.
