Hartford Police say a Bloomfield man fatally shot in the city early Saturday, was among seven people shot in a span of under two hours. Michael Bailey Jr., 24, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center after he was found face-down suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of 99 Ashley Street around 2:15 a.m., said police.

Earlier, shortly before 1 a.m., police say two people were shot in the area of 170 Capen Street– both sustaining gun shot wounds to the leg. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries at a city hospital, said police.

At roughly the same time,  police say there was a shooting at Bond Street and Franklin Avenue. Officers responded to Hartford Hospital to find two victims suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. They tell investigators that two male suspects approached them and demanded “stuff,” there was an altercation, and they were shot, and drove to the hospital, said police.  Authorities say a third victim arrived at the hospital hours later, saying he had been in the vehicle during the assault and had also been shot.

Finally, around 2:18 a.m., officers responded to 898 Garden Street to find a man shot in the back. He told investigators that he had been shot at the Sportsmen’s Club on Main Street, said police. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say they couldn’t find any evidence of shots fired in the area of the club.
