Woman Held in Waterbury Stabbing Death

A Waterbury is in custody on a murder charge after allegedly stabbing her friend during an argument. Police say Darlene Morey, 56, and Daniel Emond, 54, were visiting a neighbor on Scott Road Friday afternoon when they began arguing. The argument became physical and police say Morey picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Emond in the chest.

Emond was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead. The female owner of the home where the stabbing took place was present during the incident, but was not injured.

Morey is being held on a $1 million bond for arraignment in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday. Police say Morey and Emond, who were neighbors, were friends, but were not in a relationship. Police report this is Waterbury’s third murder in 2012.
