Hartford Police Officer Dies, Just Months After Death of His Brother, Also A Hartford Officer

Hartford police are wearing black mourning bands on their badges,  and city flags have been lowered to half staff,  to mark the death of a member of the Hartford Police Department.

Chief James Rovella says Officer James Marvin,  an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan,  and who joined the police department four years ago,  died early today.  His brother,  John Marvin, also a Hartford Police Offficer,  died in January of injuries he suffered in an off-duty accident in Hebron.  His father, also John Marvin,  is a retired Manchester policeman.

Officer Marvin had been asigned to the Patrol Division in the Northwest District,  and most recently worked in the Hartford Police Detention Unit.
