Person Of Interest Named In April Homicide

New Britain police have named a “person of interest”   in a homicide last month.  21-year-old Michael Cruz was shot by someone in the street as he stopped at a light while driving on Clark Street about 8:30 p.m. April 18

Police are looking for 22-year-old Luis Velez for questioning in the case.  They had an existing warrant for him, for drug sales.  He’s described as five-foot-eight,  weighing 175 pounds,  with black hair and brown eyes,  and tattoos on both arms,  and his left hand and neck.

Police say Velez is believed to have access to firearms and should be considered dangerous.  They ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911 —  but not to approach him.
