Statement From Students For Education Reform
Connecticut college students and members of Students For Education Reform (SFER) were thrilled with the General Assembly’s passage of meaningful education reform. The legislation creates an effective school turnaround plan, provides necessary funds for schools of choice, and begins to implement an evaluation system that values effective teaching.
“This evaluation system will ensure that teachers get professional advancement based on our actual performance in the classroom,” said Michael Daley, a junior at the University of Hartford in the teacher preparation program for elementary and special education. “That’s what teachers in my generation want.”
College students commend Governor Malloy for his leadership on this issue and for his devotion to the children of Connecticut. This law is an important step to making Connecticut a more attractive place for college students to stay as they plan their futures.
