UCONN Police Make an Arrest in an Attempted Sexual Assault

A 57 year old Ashford man is being held in lieu of a million dollars bond in the attempted kidnapping of a woman Thursday afternoon on Horsebarn Hill Road in Storrs. The victim told police about 1:45 a pickup truck pulled up to her as she walked and a man in a mask with a gun on his lap told her to get in.

UCONN police utilized the university alert notification system and sent a text message to the UCONN community informing them of the incident. A person who received a text saw the suspects vehicle in Ashford and called police.

Uconn and State Police responded to Cushman Road in Ashford where the vehicle and the suspect Bruce Ursin were found.A loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in the truck.

Ursin has been charged with Criminal Attempt Aggravated Sexual Assault in the First Degree,Criminal Attempt Kidnapping in the First Degree with a Firearm,Threatening,Weapons in a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Peace.

Ursin is due in Rockville Superior Court Friday.
