Malloy To Meet With Ireland’s President

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is planning to meet with the president of Ireland during a reception at the country’s consulate in New York City.

The governor’s office says Malloy was invited to Monday evening’s event by the consulate general of Ireland. Malloy says it is important to take advantage of opportunities to tout what Connecticut has to offer to those overseas.

President Michael D. Higgins took office in Dublin in November. He is spending four days in New York and two days in Boston on his first visit to the U.S. since taking office.

Malloy is an Irish-American who had “Danny Boy” played at his inauguration as governor.
