40-Year-Old Waterbury Resident Dies In Weekend Shooting

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) _ Waterbury police have identified a man killed in a weekend shooting as a 40-year-old city resident, and authorities continue to search for the shooter.

Police say Danny Gonzalez was found shot to death inside a car on Willow Street shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Investigators believe one of two passengers in the car shot Gonzalez, and they’re trying to identify the two other men.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and the car crash, then saw two men walking away from the vehicle.

Gonzalez was shot several times. Later in the morning, parishioners at nearby St. Margaret Church had to walk by the crime scene while going to Sunday services.

Police described the two suspects as Hispanic men in their mid-20s.
