Eight Arrests In Vernon Stabbing, More To Come

VERNON, Conn. (AP) _ Eight people have been arrested in connection with a fight in Vernon that led to the stabbing of a man who was rushed to a hospital on a police cruiser hood.

The victim, 20-year-old Robert Haskell of East Windsor, was among those arrested Thursday. Police filed a variety of charges including assault and rioting, but no one was charged in the stabbing.

The fight broke out near Union and Ward streets on April 19. Police officers found Haskell bleeding at the scene and drove him to hospital a short distance away on a police cruiser hood because the nearest ambulance was miles away. Haskell was treated at the hospital for a few days and released.

All eight people are set to be arraigned Friday in Rockville Superior Court.
