Governor Dannel Malloy has ordered directed flags to fly at half staff in Connecticut Tuesday, in honor of Army Specialist Philip Schiller, who was killed by small arms fire while on patrol in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, this month .
Spc. Schiller, who was 21, was born in Connecticut and moved to Texas where he joined the 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. His father resides in Connecticut.
Flags will be lowered from sunrise until sunset to mark his burial in Texas.
