Fatal Fire In New Britain

New Britain Police say a 39-year-old man was pronounced dead after a fire at a Whiting Street apartment early Saturday.

Police say firefighters were called to 230 Whiting Street, Apartment #30 shortly after 3:00 a.m. They made entry into the apartment, put out the fire, and found the victim. He was taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by New Britain Police, the New Britain Fire Marshal’s Office, the Connecticut State Police Fire Marshal’s Office, and the New Britain State’s Attorney’s Office.

The name of the man who died was not immediately available.
