Middletown police say a motorcycle operator is due in court next week after he was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.  Police say a rookie officer and his field training officer stopped 24-year-old Matthew Waleski of Durham near East Street and Country Club Road.  They described him as nervous, and say he attempted to grab his backpack when the officers smelled the odor of marijuana and picked it up.

Police found nearly three-quarters of a pound of marijuana which had been packaged for sale as well as more than $22,000 cash.  Police seized the drugs, cash, and the 1999 Suzuki GSXR motorchcle.

Waleski is charged with drug and motor vehicle charges.
