More Influenza Cases At Rocky Hill Veterans’ Home

More cases of influenza have been diagnosed at the Rocky Hill Veterans Home.   Commissioner of Veterans’ Affairs Linda Schwartz says four more cases were diagnosed today,  bringing the number of patients taken to hospitals with influenza to 22.

Commissioner Schwartz says the Department of Public Health took samples today,  and hopes to identify the specific strain by Wednesday.  Since the vets were all given flu shots last fall, the assumption is that this strain is a variant.

Meanwhile patients are being given the twice-daily dose of the drug Tamiflu recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
