SALEM, N.H. (AP) _ Police say a man posed as a 16-year-old girl online and robbed a 25-year-old man he arranged to meet in a New Hampshire parking lot.
Police said the 25-year-old went to a parking lot in February, expecting to meet the girl. Instead, they said 48-year-old John Ruth of Haverhill, Mass., blocked him with his vehicle and identified himself as a federal agent with a sex crimes task force.
Police said Ruth took his money clip and car keys. He pretended to check the man’s identification, and then gave the man back his keys and money clip, but he kept $146.
Ruth turned himself in Wednesday and was charged with robbery, false impersonation and false imprisonment.
He was held on $20,000 bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
