SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police say a man who got stuck in a roof vent while trying to break into a recently closed restaurant where he had once worked lost his pants during the rescue.

Police say 26-year-old Robert Kuhn tried to climb through a vent on the roof of Lido’s Ristorante on Wednesday night, but got stuck.

A passerby spotted him at about 10 p.m. and called police. Firefighters freed him, but his pants apparently got snagged on something inside the vent and he lost them during the rescue.

He was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and placed in a police cruiser wearing just boxer shorts.

Police say it was unclear how long he had been stuck.

Lido’s closed last week after 62 years in business.
