Windsor Board Wants Watts Out

The Windsor school board has called on one of its members to resign after federal authorities arrested him last week in Florida on suspicion of traveling there to have sex with a minor.

The board announced after a special meeting Tuesday night it will ask Christopher Watts to resign to avoid being a distraction. The board also voted to remove him as finance committee chairman.

Federal authorities alleged in a criminal complaint Friday that Watts tried to arrange a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old in an online chat with an undercover agent he believed was the girl’s father.

Watts is in federal custody and not immediately reachable for comment Tuesday night.
