18-Year-Old Enters Substance Abuse Program, Originally Charged With Sexual Assault Of Infant

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ An 18-year-old Enfield woman who was accused of sexually assaulting an infant has entered a substance abuse treatment program after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.

The Journal Inquirer of Manchester reports that  Kelsey Albertson pleaded guilty Monday to a risk of injury charge under a deal that could result in a 10-year prison sentence.

As part of the plea arrangement, Albertson was released into the custody of the Stepping Stone treatment program.
Albertson was charged in October with first-degree sexual assault and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.

Police say she sent photographs of herself performing sex acts on the baby to her boyfriend.

The child was placed in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families. Albertson is due back in court in May.
