Third Arrest In Vernon Beating Of Disabled Man

VERNON, Conn. (AP) _ Three people have been arrested in the robbery and beating of a disabled Vernon man.

Police say one of the assailants had recently befriended the 55-year-old man and knew he had money on him.

The woman and another assailant allegedly asked the victim to take a short cut with them to an apartment building, then attacked him and stole his money. The victim got himself to a hospital on Feb. 26 and he was treated for injuries including a broken nose and bruises on his face.

Eighteen-year-old Ashley Secore of Manchester, 19-year-old Shataneka Brown of Rockville and 32-year-old Darnell Stellmacher of Hartford were arrested on charges including robbery, assault, and conspiracy to commit assault and robbery.

The last person arrested, Darnell Stellmacher, was located by police responding to a disturbance call in West Hartford.
