Governor Meets With Hockey East About Possible UConn Membership

Governor Malloy met with officials from the Hockey East conference Thursday.  The conference is considering including the University of Connecticut hockey team as a member.

One problem would be that the on-campus rink used by the Huskies would be too small to meet the requirements of Hockey East.  If they werre to leave the Atlantic Hockey conference,  the school might need a new place to play.  The governor says one of the things they talked about was use of the XL Center.

The UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams play some of their home games at the XL Center.
