EAST HADDAM, Conn. (AP) _ More than 100 firefighters were called Devil’s Hopyard State Park in East Haddam to battle a brush fire that’s burned 25 acres and is being fueled by strong winds.

Firefighters from more than a dozen towns responded to the blaze Monday night. But the difficult terrain and winds forced officials to pull crews out of the heavily wooded area and delay efforts to put out the fire until Tuesday morning.

Authorities stayed at the park overnight to monitor the fire and prepare for possible evacuations of nearby homes.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire isn’t clear.

State officials say the fire danger is high because of dry and windy conditions.
