Saltalamacchia’s First Home Run Of Exhibition Season Not Enough For Sox

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) _ Nate McLouth hit his first home run of spring training, a two-run drive in the seventh inning Wednesday that helped the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Red Sox 6-5.

Jon Lester, in his first outing since Boston said he will start on opening day, allowed four runs and eight hits in three innings.

He has a 5.73 in three starts.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit his first home run of the exhibition season, and Adrian Gonzalez had an RBI.

Pittsburgh’s Kevin Correia allowed four runs and eight hits in five innings after starting spring training with nine scoreless innings.

Matt Hague went 2-for-3 with a home run, raising his average to .429.
