Mother And Daughter Saved From Early Morning Fire In Windsor

WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) _ Fire officials in Windsor say a woman and her 7-year-old daughter are lucky to be alive after being rescued from a burning home.

Firefighters were called to the home on Grande Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday. Fire Chief William Lewis says two police officers used a ladder from the garage to rescue the woman and the girl from a window.

Both were taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials are checking to see if the home is habitable. The fire caused smoke and heat damage throughout.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
