NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Several lawyers have asked a state judge to keep court proceedings secret in the case of a teenage girl who’s suing seven boys and their parents for an alleged group sex assault in the wealthy shoreline town of Madison.
Lawyers for the plaintiff and some defendants asked a New Haven Superior Court judge on Monday to permanently seal the entire file and proceedings from public view. Another judge issued a temporary sealing order in December that remains in effect, and Judicial Branch officials refuse to say why.
The judge didn’t immediately rule.
The case involves allegations that several boys inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl at a New Year’s Eve party in 2009, when all the teens were middle school students.
The Associated Press opposed the sealing motion.
