Neighbor Charged With Taunting Man On Sex Offender Registry

TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) _ Trumbull police say they arrested a local man who was so upset about a sex offender living in his neighborhood that he taunted the convict.

The Connecticut Post reports  that 19-year-old Bryan Oei was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct on Wednesday. He posted $500 bail and is to be arraigned in state court on March 22.

Police say Oei harassed sex offender Joseph Kallay on the phone and later went to his house. Police say when Kallay asked Oei to leave, Oei allegedly responded, “What if I don’t. Are you going to rape me?”

It’s not clear if Oei has a lawyer. His mother declined to comment Friday.

The state sex offender registry says Kallay was convicted of first-degree rape in New York in 1990.
