HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) _ Hamden police say a person found dead in a local resident’s backyard last week was a 50-year-old woman who lived in an apartment building for people with health and drug problems.
Police identified the woman on Monday as Christine Pate, whose body was found behind a shed in a homeowner’s backyard last Thursday. Authorities say they’re still trying to determine how she died and why her body was in the yard.
Police told the New Haven Register (http://bit.ly/z8zgi4 ) that Pate lived in a facility for people with HIV and AIDS and for people with mental health or substance abuse problems who could be at risk of being homeless. Neighbors say Pate was once a nurse in the Navy and her family lives in Idaho.
Autopsy results remain pending.
