Hundreds of Trinity College students gathered on a campus quadrangle this afternoon, to show support for a student who was badly beaten last weekend.

Students also called for increased security, and accused administrators of downplaying the attack.

Students wore matching blue T-shirts reading “Rally for Chris Kenney 2012 Fight for What’s Right Trinity College.”

One student described being mugged for her cell phone on campus recently.  She said she was not physically harmed, but she said when she walked around campus after the incident, she thought someone was going to attack her.

Another student called for a gate to be erected around campus, with guards at the entrances.  Some other students disagreed.

Administrators say that idea may not be practical, because several city streets run through campus.
