A UConn student bus driver Monday pleaded no contest to charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, and failure to yield to a pedestrian. Lukasz Gilewski said he was very sorry, and apologized to the family and friends of a fellow student he ran over on the UConn campus in Storrs almost a year ago. Under a plea agreement with prosecutors, he avoids any jail time, and instead will have a 6-month jail term suspended. He will serve two years of probation. The mother of deceased pedestrian David Plamondon objected to the agreement, and spoke to the court asking for jail time in the death of her son. She said he died on the cold pavement under the bus.
