EAST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A member of the East Haven Board of Police Commissioners has been arrested on a charge of second-degree threatening in connection with an incident involving a 14-year-old boy.
The New Haven Register reports that Carl Perez turned himself at police headquarters Wednesday.
Perez works as suspension officer at East Haven High School. East Haven Deputy Police Chief John Mannion says the arrest is related to a complaint filed by the mother of a student. An attorney for Perez declined to comment.
Perez is one of three Democratic appointees on the five-member board of commissioners. He was elected as the board’s vice chairman on Tuesday night, less than 24 hours before his arrest.
