Fractured Skull In Suspected Child Abuse

A 20-month-old boy suffered a fractured skull, a fractured left arm, cuts, and bruises, in what State Police say is a suspected child abuse case.

The child’s mother told investigators her estranged husband had the boy, when the injuries took place.

State Police Lieutenant Paul Vance says the mother brought the boy to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and doctors called police.

“Working with the assistance of the Torrington Police Department, troopers obtained two search and seizure warrants, and have executed those warrants, seizing evidence,” Vance said. “Detectives from the state Police have interviewed witnesses, and are a pursuing criminal investigation.”

Police said homes in New Hartford and Torrington were searched.

The abuse may have occurred at the New Hartford location.

So far no arrests have been made.

The names of the people involved were withheld by State Police.
