Lambert Named Interim Atheletic Director At Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ John Lambert has been named the University
at Buffalo’s interim athletic director while the school launches a
search to replace Warde Manuel, who is leaving to take over at
Connecticut.

University president Satish Tripathi announced the decision
Thursday, four days after Manuel informed the school of his
decision to accept the AD’s job at UConn.

Lambert has been at Buffalo since 1996, and currently holds the
title of senior associate athletic director. Lambert helped oversee
Buffalo’s jump to the Division I-A level in the late 1990s, when it
joined the Mid-American Conference.

Buffalo intends to formally launch a national search next week
to find Manuel’s successor. Tripathi expects a new athletic
director to be hired within three months.
