Data Breach At CCSU

Central Connecticut State University says a computer virus has infected a computer in the school business office —  potentially exposing personal information of more than 18-thousand current and former faculty, staff and student workers.

The school is moving to offer identity theft protection to more than 18-thousand present and former faculty, staff and student workers after a “Z-bot” tracking virus was detected.

A spokesman says only Social Security numbers —  not names and addresses — of people who have worked for the school since 1998 could have been exposed,  but says a forensic examination has not determined whether any information has been misused.
