A 41-year-old man is under arrest after two women reported being held at knifepoint at a Cheshire home while one was sexually assaulted. Cheshire police say the two women– ages 42 and 18– reported the incident early Saturday. They told officers one of the women was forced to remain in a room while the other was sexually assaulted in an adjacent room. Both women had been threatened that they would be killed and one of the victims suffered a cut on her hand.
Police arrested Mark Altieri, whose last known address is 55 Horton Avenue in Cheshire, after they found him hiding in a closet in the basement of a Seymour home. Altieri was charged with first-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of second-degree threatening and third-degree sexual assault. He was held on a $500,000 bond for arraignment in court on Monday.
A 63-year-old woman at the residence where Altieri was found hiding initially denied he was there and was charged with hindering the investigation.
